On Sri Lanka’s sun-baked south coast near the fishing town of Tangalle, Amanwella lies amid 37 acres of coconut trees next to a perfect crescent of golden sand. Amanwella lies on Sri Lanka’s quiet southern coast, around 80km east of Galle (home to Amangalla) and 190km south of the capital, Colombo. The seaside town of Tangalle is Amanwella’s nearest community, around 3.5km east along the coast. Identical in design and layout, Amanwella’s terracotta-roofed suites feature hand-hewn stone walls and terrazzo floors, with floor-to-ceiling glass and lattice panels opening on two sides to a private courtyard, a terrace and a six-metre pool.
